CALL PROCESS

MARCH 2009

CALLING A NEW ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Lord of Life is currently in the process of calling a new Associate Pastor. As a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Lord of Life engages in a process that facilitates in a unique and prayerful way the calling [employment] of a pastor. The Call Process is very deliberate and over a period of time of thoughtful assessment and spiritual discernment draws the congregation together for the sake of the mission and ministry of the church to select that person chosen by God to serve Lord of Life. To aid in that process the congregation has chosen a Call Committee to do the assessment of our ministry needs and an evaluation of the gifts and talents of a candidate and present a candidate to the Congregation for selection to receive the call. Once the call is issued, the pastor called will then discern whether or not to accept the call.

The Lord of Life Call Committee, as the congregation's representatives, wants to ensure that the process is open, transparent and facilitates input from the church. To assist in that goal, they have established an email address which may be used to send them a note with your individual thoughts, perceptions, questions and comments. The email address is: callcomm@lordoflifelutheran.com. Simply click the link and send them a note.

The members of the Lord of Life Call Committee are: Carol Carlson; Steve Gielda; David Larson; Joy Metz; Timothy Miller; Laura Musfeldt; Mary Walker; and Jack Zimmerman. Please do not hesitate to send them an email; drop them a note in the mail or the church office; or talk to one of them. Because the calling of a pastor is a divine process, we constantly offer our prayers, so that we can be guided and graced with God's presence in this most important task. What power we have as we unite in prayer to help move the ministry of Lord of Life forward.

PRAYER FOR THE CALL PROCESS: Gracious gifting God, we are reminded of your gifts in and for all the children of the church. Call on our gifts now; use us, in service of your whole church. As we work to call a new pastor to our congregation may your Holy Spirit lead us to discern the gifts we seek and see those gifts clearly in the candidates you are sending to us. In our communications, interviews and meetings with them, may we find ourselves once again who we surely are in Christ Jesus, stewards of your many gifts. Amen.
